Busy Holidays

Sorry it's been awhile since we've posted. I've been so busy preparing for my winter craft shows that I have neglected poor Polly's blog. She's been such a nice companion down in the crafty dungeon of my basement helping me work on bags.

A few weeks ago we went to our very first Puggie Play Time at Pet Junction in St. Paul. At first Polly was a bit overwhelmed by all the other pugs but she quickly realized that these were her peeps and had a blast. Here's a little video of the fun times. Sorry it's so shaky - it was hard to get away from the oh-so-affectionate pugs for even 30 seconds.

There were some crazy pug lovers there. Even crazier than me. One lady brought a little yorkie there and people freaked out on her. Someone even said, "This is a POE! A pug-only-event! I'm going to tell the organizer!" It was funny to me and Polly. We're all about equal opportunity playtime. Although I would be kinda pissed if it was a Great Dane or something. As long as it can't eat Polly whole I'm okay with it. I'll probably take her again soon; its nice for the winter since we don't get out much.

Seriously?

Are you seriously making me wear these freakin' socks in public? The hoodie I can handle. But the socks?

Yes Polly. You are a delicate flower and need to protect your little paws from the elements.
Unfortunately these stayed on for about 2 minutes before she kicked them off. We'll have to find some that we can tighten before the snow gets here.

Um...let's go already!

This picture is old but awfully cute. It's from this summer when we took Polly on her first camping trip with the Watson family. She was quite ready to get on the road at the end of the weekend and this was how she showed us.

We Love Fall!

Yesterday Polly and I raked some leaves in the backyard. Well - I raked, she laid in the sun. She found a spot and refused to move so I raked all around her until there was just one little square of leaves left in the yard. Of course I couldn't resist jumping in the pile I had made and I tried to get Polly to jump too but she was quite wary of them. I threw her in but she ran out right away. We thought about hiding while Caleb was at the store and trying to scare him but Polly refused to hide with me. Oh, well. Caleb also jumped in the leaves when he got home. I was hoping do to some more jumping today but our landlord put them all in bags while we were in St. Cloud. Fun-taker-awayer.

After our fun in the yard we drove up to see our friends' Greg & Angie's new baby Owen. He was so frickin' cute I could hardly stand it. I even offered to change his poopy diaper - that's how cute he was. They have a bulldog named Greta and Polly and her got along pretty well.

Greg has some gloves he uses just to play with Greta and Polly tried to join in the fun but really she just ran around and barked. Every once in awhile she did get ahold of a glove and she thought she was really tough.

And here's Caleb with Owen. He was pretty psyched to use the boppy - he thought it was just for breastfeeding so he was surprised when Angie offered it to him. Luckily he didn't have to lactate to use it.
It was so nice to see our friends and Polly had a nice time too. She also says she's really sorry she piddled on the kitchen rug - she was just really excited to see Greta & the new baby.

Still Here!

I haven't written in forever but thought I should put a new picture up here because of course we're still having so much fun with Polly and she's just about the best doggy in the whole world.

This was awhile ago but my mom got a new pup named Keebler and he came over to play with Polly. Keebs is just about the only dog I've ever seen Polly really play with.

We take her to the dog park but she's pretty ambivalent about other dogs. We went last week and I was all excited to see a little Boston Terrier there because I thought she could play with Polly but she was so friggin' excited and ended up barking at her and humping her the whole time until Polly starting nipping at her and then tried to crawl up me to get away from her. But, she loves Keebler and they chase each other all around. It's pretty cute. I think little dogs remind Polly of her puppies. I know she had some because her little belly is all stretched out and man oh man does she have humongous nipples! Caleb's cousin Terri even discovered she has one extra one. Yep, she's a special dog.

And this picture just cracks me up. She looks like a cranky old man - I think we've all felt like this at some point.

What We've Been Up To...

Since getting Polly we've taken her pretty much everywhere we can. This is mostly due to the fact that I am super attached to her, probably in a kind of unhealthy way. But whatever, she's my baby. I used to think that people who let their dogs lick them on the mouth and on the face were totally disgusting but now I let Polly lick me all the time. She kind of has a problem with the licking but I can't bring myself to completely stop her because it is kind of cute. She doesn't do it as much to Caleb - probably because his face is all rough and probably doesn't taste that good anyway.

So, a couple weeks ago we took her to the St. Paul Dragon Boat Races at Lake Phalen. It was her first time really being around people with us and she did really well. Everyone wanted to pet her and hold her and she was just fine with that. Al Franken happened to be walking around and we thought it'd be fun to get our picture taken with him. Polly felt like kissing him on the cheek right as they snapped the picture. Oh well. The girl who took the picture guilted us into signing up for the Obama campaign list and now they call me like everyday. I'm all about Obama but I am not all about going door to door handing out crap. No thanks. Polly might though.

Last weekend we visited my Dad & Beth in Lucas, Iowa and just hung out in their pool most of the time. Polly was not that thrilled but she did have fun sitting on top of Caleb and running back and forth on him.

We tried to put her in the water for swimming and at first she kind of sank and sputtered but then she got the hang of it and swam back and forth between us. I don't think she was too happy with us but she gave us wet slo
ppy kisses afterwards so I guess she still loves us.

This is a blog all about our new little pug Polly and her adventures with us. We got Polly on July 6th at the Golden Valley Human Society. Polly was a stray and had an eye infection so the vets removed her right eye. She also had a bunch of rotten teeth so she only has one lower canine which she likes to show us all the time. She also has knee problems and nose problems which are very common for pugs but we love her to pieces and we'll have lots of fun stuff to share with you soon!
